Grand opening of Master program – Learning and Development in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts (MA multi-LEARN): Students from 21 countries unit in their scientific exploration of learning and development in the age of diversity

The third year of the Master’s program “Learning and Development in Multicultural and Multilingual Contexts” opens the academic year 2009/10 on October 15, 7 PM with a welcoming event at the University’s Campus Walferdange.

Out of more than 200 pre-inscriptions to the MA multi-LEARN, 33 students from 21 countries have been selected, taking up their journey into the heart of research on multiculturalism, diversity and the impact of multilingualism on learning and development in our societies of the 21st century.

Studying, developing and living “Learning and development in multilingual and multicultural contexts”, this group joins the more experienced peers and alumni, having already succesfully completed mentoring processes, profile-bound internships, international Master classes, scientific conferences, electronically supported collaborative learning and public poster presentation on their applied research projects.

Representing a hot topic in current research affairs, the trilingual, bi-annual Master program units again 25 women and 8 men, from 22 to 49 years of age along the common interest on how to best set-up, analyze and implement learning and development in a diversified world. This being an urgent concern in development research, socio-political approaches – and growingly – in the domain of finance and the economics of human resources, the focus of the MA multi-LEARN is internationlly acknowledged and conlsely responds to the students’ needs and interests.

The grand-opening on Thursday, October 15, 7PM will bring together 1st and 2nd year students as well alumni who have recently completed their degree at the University of Luxembourg (Cafeteria). The welcoming event has become a tradition within the MA programme uniting students, researchers, interessees and supporters of the programme beyond the grounds of course assignments and teaching duties.
